Top Gun is always a great choice, especially on Memorial Day, and it only makes it better is that the long-awaited, buzzworthy sequel Top Gun: Maverick is in theaters at the same time. The motion picture, directed by Rod Lurie, follows a small team of US soldiers as they battle against the Taliban. It covered the Battle of Kamdesh in the war in Afghanistan. The war film The Outpost is based on the nonfiction book from 2012 called The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor, written by author Jake Tapper. Make sure to have a place for Saving Private Ryan on Memorial Day. The magnetic affair showcases the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers that fought so bravely to literally save the world. Starting out with a pulse-pounding scene of the Normandy landings, the well-crafted narrative shifts into following a group of fearless soldiers that go behind enemy lines to rescue a paratrooper. The five-time Oscar winner has a star-studded cast, including Tom Hanks, Edward Burns, Tom Sizemore, Giovanni Ribisi, Matt Damon, and more. Many consider Saving Private Ryan to be one of the greatest films by acclaimed director Steven Spielberg as well as one of the greatest war movies ever to grace the silver screen. The 113-minute story does a magnificent job showcasing the trials and tribulations of war. In the film, Ocre is tagged with the crucial task of restoring water to a village in Iraq.
